　　Take approximately 1 gram of pharmaceutical dextrin for identification testing, suspend it in 20 ml of water, and add a few drops of iodine test solution (TS-124). The iodine test solution should turn deep blue to reddish-brown. Its infrared absorption spectrum should conform to Figure 10107.

　　No specific permitted daily intake of toxicity is specified (FAO/WHO, 2001).

　　GRAS (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 184.1277, 2000).

　　FAO/WHO usage limits (1984, g/kg): broths and soups are GMI; dairy cheese (cream mixture) 5; fermented and heat-treated flavor-enhancing yogurt and its products; canned mackerel and sufficient fish 60 (packaging material only); cold drinks 30 pounds.

　　Pharmaceutical dextrinA white, yellow, or brown free-flowing powder with chemical characteristics. Dextrins with relatively low molecular weight completely dissolve in water, forming a viscous slurry; high molecular weight dextrins are not completely soluble in water. No specific provisions by Agricultural Development Initiative (FAO/WHO, 1994).
